Marina Markio

Miniature Schnauzers

Marina got her first Miniature Schnauzer in 1973 (Fin Ch KBSG Munkin Prinz) from Sirkka Henriksson-Pasanen, who also offered Marina a summer job at her grooming salon. Marina was 14 years old at the time she began her grooming career. Her first litter under prefix Prinzland's was born in 1977. Her breeding mainly based on female Ch Prinzland's Day Smiling, which was a daughter to Soile Bister's English import Ch Deansgate Dai Laughing. Later, she imported herself Ch W'86 KBSG Penlan Pagentry's Peppercorn from USA. From Maximin kennels (Benny Blidh, Sweden) she imported two more dogs, Ch Maximin Smiling Sailor and Maximin Wicked Witch and one more from Denmark, Klondaike's Return to Sender. Marina's goal in breeding was to produce dogs with good character and health, but also good movers with outgoing temperaments. No doubt she managed to get that all, as she was awarded a Vuolasvirta prize by Finnish Kennel Club. About 80 % of her breeding (18 litters altogether) was presented at shows at least once and almost all were eye tested.

She didn't continue breeding after having some changes of life, that included a son and moving abroad. Also, she wasn't that happy with the new rules that insisted to leave long tails to pups. Besides the breeding, on 70-80's she worked for Schnauzer-Pinscher Club, for example in it's board, in breeding committee and as an editor-in-chief.

PBGVs

To 'Yamashta Gang' Marina joined in 2003, when Tarmo moved to her home, after her Schnauzer had died in the same year. She did groom Yamashtas before that too, but now she was really getting into PBGVs. In the beginning of 2005 Toto joined the family and in autumn 2006 Toto's breeder kindly sent us his half sister Lulu as well. Besides Mari's own dogs, her effort in grooming other Yamashta PBGVs is significant. With all the experience she has, she is not afraid to question things, like: 'Is it really necessary to breed from every possible female??!' One can always count on her honest opinion. Therefore, she is not only respected as a friend, but also as a qualified FCI judge for:
