Beginning with Dalmatians

I can't remember exactly when my interest in dogs began, but after a couple of years' begging I finally got my first dog in 1985. He was a gentle brown spotted Dalmatian, Eevariitan Ursus (1984-1995), bred by Eevariitta Pakarinen (1917-1999). Another Dalmatian followed, Eevariitan Zorbas (1987-1994). This black spotted male had also a wonderful character, but so unfortunately these two males didn't get along with each other in the long run, so later Zorbas moved to a nice family in Kuopio. Although neither of them were show stars (Ursus did get 2 CCs), I showed them often and we have so many nice memories from the shows together with Eevariitta. Ursus lived almost 11 years, although he had been on a medication for epilepsy since 3 years of age. Zorbas didn't live that long - he got a kidney disease at the age of 7. They both were wonderful dogs and I still feel sad for not figuring out how they could've both shared their lives with us.

Bichon Frisé

I was interested in many breeds I saw at shows, but I wanted something smaller, so a Bichon Frisé female joined our family. She was owned and bred by Eva & Ivar Hedman. This Int & Fin Ch Evivas Royalty Winsome (1990-1999) was a brave little dog....she feared nothing. She didn't hesitate to show her opinion. If she didn't like someone, she made herself very clear about that....even to a Dobermann! She was respected by the other dogs and acted like a queen. Although a wonderful creature, I thought this breed had a bit too much coat work for me. 'Wenla' gave two litters to Evivas. Her life was too short - she got a very large tumor and died at 9 years. Her breeders have been a very big help for me, for so many times - I'll allways be grateful for all their support they have given me during these doggy years of mine.

PBGV

In 1991, after a couple of years' planning, I got my first PBGV from Eeva Virpiö. At first, after I've got 'Tilly' (Multi Ch Beacock Tilly) I thought, that what an earth I'm going to do with this stubborn, biting little devil???! The very first time, when I trained her (she was only 10 weeks at the time), I was a bit scared how to get along with this wild girl, but my own stubborness won over! That is what I tell to people, who are concidering to take this breed - you must be mentally stronger yourself! After making clear to Tilly who really was the boss, I never had further problems with her and when stacking her, I could leave her standing by herself...she even kept her tail up, only her eyes moved!

Breeding

Tilly got her first litter in Autumn 1993. In 1994 I took off to Denmark with her, where I worked at Morebess kennels for 7 months. I learned a lot more about the breed, grooming and many more. I liked a lot of the type of the dogs I saw there and in 1996 Tilly got another litter with Multi Ch Morebess Obelix de Nimes. From that litter I kept Y. Zulu Dawn, an extremely outgoing puppy and she kept that attitude for years to come. I had a rough period of letting both of my dear dear dogs go, when my husband-to-be got so allergic, that it was impossible to keep them in the same house. There must be an angel that saw my pain, as everything worked out so perfectly after all. Both Zulu and Tilly have now the best families they ever could and I visit them both regularly. Although it was at first so awful to be separated from them, we are all satisfied how the things are today (except Tilly, when I drive her to the osteopathic treatment she gets every 6-8 weeks...she barks in the car, but keeps it silent on our way back.. :) ). Even new litters have seen the daylight, thanks to my friends! This doggy hobby has given me so much and so many friends and I have many people to thank for supporting me in continuing with breeding etc. I should make a list of those people one day, it'll be a long one...
